Reading a Good Book
I sat up last night until after midnight - reading. I know some of you are just getting started at that time, but for me 10pm is the usual sleepy time. Anyway, I'm reading Fire by Kristin Cashore. I read Graceling a while back and really liked it. I was going to read Fire then, but since it is about different characters I couldn't get interested in it that quickly. It takes me some time to get over a story and leave those characters. Anyway, Cashore does a really good job with characterization. Her evil characters are truly wicked and her men are manly! Anyway, I love that feeling of needing to finish a book. It's not just wanting to; it's truly a need. Does anybody else get this? I woke up this morning ready to read. First, I finished my work quickly - then got to read- NO. My son spilled three puzzles, so I had to pick those up and put them together- eating into my reading time. I was really getting antsy; I had separation anxiety. Finally, after being up and moving for over 3 hours I was able to begin reading. Of course, there were occasional interruptions from the kids needing insignificant things like water and food, but I was able to completely ignore them and exist only in the world of Fire. Unfortunately, I haven't finished it yet because I had to come to work- Drat. So now the anticipation is building and the story of Fire and Brigan is awaiting my perusal. As Willy Wonka would say, "The suspense is killing me!"
