Mockingjay...
I've purposefully waited to post about Mockingjay to give time for more of you to read it. Well, time's up! First, let me start by saying Suzanne Collins is a wonderful writer- if you haven't read her Gregor the Overlander series, check it out. Of course, I speculated about what would happen in Mockingjay and was right about some of it. However, I didn't expect the bleakness that came along with the maturation of the characters and the unraveling of the plot. As I look back, I didn't like this Katniss or this Gale or this Peeta. But that 's part of Collins' commentary; life (especially life as presented in Panem) changes people. What a tragic ending as Katniss and Peeta still struggle with their brokeness and can only hope for a better future. The themes in this series are deep and need to be discussed. Don't just read it and leave it; let it resonate and change you.
